never give up on not giving up

Wonderful thing for 2 Jan 2016

Resolutions.  Let's say instead, goals.  Or maybe commitments.  Let's see if I can keep up an almost-daily blogpost till we finish in February...   see, "almost daily"  - already an open door out!  It's just that our schedule is so unpredictable...

Careggi is a huge university hospital in Florence.  We knew that we would find the patient we had come with the elders to visit in "Radioterapia".  Usually, there would be plenty of people around to ask, but in Italy, Jan. 2 is still "festa" time.  Until "Epiphany" on January 6, only the necessary workers are at their jobs.

So, no one really around to help us navigate to Radioterapia.  We tried following signs, and we thought we had arrived, only to be sent away by some actual people outside the door.  Turns out they were wrong, which we found out by going to the next building, wandering through empty halls till we found someone.

Once in the right building, no idea where to go from there.  Two people entered behind us; even though they were black, we spoke Italian to them out of habit, asking where we would go to visit a patient in radioterapia.  They said 3rd floor, and invited us to enter the elevator because they were going there as well.

At this point, Blaine asked, "Why are we all speaking Italian?" and the lady responded, "I was wondering that as well!"

She saw our missionary badges and asked if we were going to visit a certain person, telling us when we answered in the affirmative that she was his wife!  I'm telling you, folks, there are no coincidences.

We had a sweet visit with a very sick man, who has an inspiring attitude.

Fun thing:

It's Jan. 3 - blew it already!

Not sure what this horse head has in mind for a New Year resolution...
