Wonderful thing for Wednesday, 11 March
Hmmm...I'd have to say, Peter's mission call. It started out as a going-away party for Rocio, one of the sweetest young women I know, who is returning home to Peru; and Nick and Annie Romano, who are going back to the States, all members of the Florence Ward.
Then, Nick and Annie couldn't show up (we sent texts back and forth on whatsapp - buon viaggio, Romanos!) and Peter's mission call showed up in the mail. Coincidentally, the party was held at Peter's family's home. Instant mission call party.
We showed up an hour late, and it was just getting started. The apartment was packed with people; we stood in the vestibule most of the time, which was fine. We got to shake hands with everyone and spend a little time with Rocio. Some people were speculating: Peru (where his family is from); China. I said Uruguay or Costa Rica (where Ben and Matt served). Blaine said Siberia.
Soon Peter's mom called everyone to order, asked someone to pray and bless the food, and we all waited in anticipation while he opened his call: Italy Rome! What a time to be going to the Italy Rome mission! He's really excited, and we are excited for him. He's a wonderful young man and will be a good missionary.
fun thing:
made pumpkin raisin muffins. The pumpkin was actually a huge squash that looked like a green pumpkin, and the orange inside was the most vivid orange I've ever seen. It was given to me weeks ago by Sorella Pascuzzo, from her garden. With the warm weather, I decided I'd better bring it in from the outside porch.
I eat this meusli that has so many raisins in it that it tastes cloyingly sweet, so I pick the raisins and dried papaya out and save them till I have enough to make something with.
ergo, pumpkin raisin muffins. yummy.
